Yokubal (ヨクバール Yokubāru?) are the main monsters in Maho Girls Pretty Cure!. They are created by the dark magic that the minions of Dokuroxy used by fusing two objects. In episode 27, the more powerful Don Yokubal, summoned by Labut, debuted.

Appearance[]

They have a lilac colored skull face with purple horns coming from the top and their eyes are red and green. The Yokubal can only be created if two objects are merged together by the Dark Magician's dark magic.

In episode 22, Their skull's face is almost shaped the same, but one half of the face is lilac while the other is black with a dark aura surrounding that half. The eyes are also completely red.

In episode 27, the Don Yokubal debuted, which are fused with two items like a normal Yokubal, but the faces are dark purple with pink, red, yellow and blue eyes with black markings around them and an open purple mouth. They also have red x-like markings across the face and three red circles on their forehead.

In episode 43, after Orba revived the Dark Magician Trio, a stronger type of Yokubal debuted, which are fused with two items like a normal Yokubarl, but the skull's face is almost shaped the same, but it is completely black with a dark aura surrounding. The eyes are also completely red.

Trivia[]

  • Their name is derived from the verb "yokubaru", (欲張る) which means to covet.
  • They are voiced by Takahiro Shimada while the Don Yokubal are voiced by Shōta Yamamoto.
    • They are the first monsters in the franchise to have two different voice actors.
  • They are the first monster to be fused by two objects instead of one object.
  • Yamoh and Spalda are the only members who fuse with the Yokubal to fight with the Cures for the last time.
  • The name "Don Yokubal" comes from the word "donyoku" (貪欲) which means either 'greed', 'covetousness', and 'avarice'.
  • Gamets uses his shell symbol for summoning Yokubal. It is unknown how he would summon them after he burst his shell in episode 18. This is perhaps why only Batty and Spalda summoned Yokubal after their revival in later episodes.
